We are thrilled to offer social groups for students with social language difficulties at our office. Please read the description below and explore if this would be a good option for your child and family. Often times, we work with our students individually and then recommend that they graduate to social group to use their language skills with their peers. Our therapists have advanced training in Michelle Garcia Winner's- Social Thinking curriculum (We Thinkers and Incredible Flexible You), DIR/Floortime, knowledge of the SCERTS model, Hanen's Talkability, Zones of Regulation, Conversation Train, and Kimochi emotion characters. The social groups blend structured lessons and unstructured pretend play.
Thursday and Saturday Groups
Our groups meets on Thursday afternoons and another group meets on Saturday mornings. Both groups are targeted for 5-6 year olds with social language delays. Our groups follow many of Michelle Garcia Winner's Social Thinking concepts particularly the Incredible Flexible You and We Thinkers curriculum along with Hanen's Talkability program. We also like to incorporate the Zones of Regulation programming as well as Conversation Train. Both of our groups incorporate structured and unstructured tasks such as making a group plan, acting out emotions, searching for feelings with flashlights, and supported pretend play. Our groups have between 3-5 participants and two dedicated clinicians leading the group and tracking progress. Session debriefing and weekly homework are provided to families after the sessions.
